Syncing Facebook contacts

I have been trying to sync my Facebook contacts but it is not working. Is this a Facebook issue? I went to settings and added the Facebook account. I checked sync with your device. But just above that it says sync is off. I opened the Facebook app and went to the settings. There is no longer a box to check that says sync contacts. I tried using haxsync but it failed to pull any contact information.
