Hey; sorry for the long post; I've looked for the issue very thoroughly and so far have not seen a similar thread; trying to be informative here as to not waste time back and forwards.
Issue 1 : My S4 is almost impossible to turn on - its not the power button, as the times I cannot get it to turn on it also doesn't show that the phone is charging when plugged in (no battery on screen, no led indicator); the only way to get it to turn on is to remove and insert a battery 10-15 times whilst plugged into a charger ( I own two S4's both with good batteries; tried both). Eventually the phone vibrates when battery inserted and screen shows the battery charging symbol is the time I am able to also turn it on normally.
Issue 2: The phone gets uncomfortable to touch on the front glass about 1/4 below the earpiece when its turned OFF if you plug it into a charger (and I do not mean the screen is off, the phone is off, properly off).
It even gets hot without the battery if plugged into a charger.... I am assuming its a hardware fault but wondering if there is any sort of test I can run to check for this (assuming I can get the phone to power on again tomorrow).
The power drain is so severe that when i finally get the thing to turn on; the battery depletes whilst on charge; if I leave the phone off and on charge; it never gains power. (I re-charge the batteries using my other working S4).4
So far I've flashed a stock ROM (actually Ive tried 3 versions so far two KitKat and one Lollypop); including going to the extreme of flashing correct PIT files with each and using NAND erase all just to see if it would change (not much to lose at this point). I am using Odin 3.09 with good success; Ive never had a write issue and it behaves itself very well always detecting the phone instantly in boot mode without fail. I've succeded with all odin flashes of stock roms and booted each one without too much trouble.
So any suggestions?
The power drain is sufficient that the phone will only stay turned on for a few hours right after a fresh flash (e.g NO user apps; nothing; no sim; no Wi-Fi; NOTHING); after which I have to swap batteries with the other S4 to re-charge them to tinker some more with this infernal device that is causing me much pain.
Thanks to all who take the time to read this far.
Luke
