New here and need some suggestions on what to do with my Samsung Galaxy S4.

I end up getting a Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-l337 for free. It had a broken screen which I was able to fix for (was a pain to fix). I've been having a problem with the WiFi though. It works fine at first after a factory reset and I wipe everything, but after a bit it doesn't work anymore. If the WiFi is left on and I try to connect to a different network it will show as a green dim icon, but I can't turn it on. If the WiFi is turned on like if I turn off my phone then it won't turn back on as well. Is there any way I could fix this with a custom kernal or new modem firmware? Also is there any cool things I should get or install on my phone? I've been wanting to use it for Kodi and stream to it from my pc over wifi then use the screen mirroring. I've also been using it as a google cardboard which is really cool if anyone hasn't tried that before. You can play wii, psp and gamecube games on your computer and stream the video to your phone in 3D and play on it. Works pretty good.
