BOG5 root. would this work?

Experienced users feel free to shoot me down right away, but I was reading that the Canadian S5 has an unlockable bootloader, unlike the US version.
Could a person flash the Canadian bootloader via Odin, Root the phone, and then flash the US bootloader back?
